Whether your child is just starting ‘big school’, a new school, a new school year or has been out of school for a while and you have a back log of photos and stories to document about them (or your grandkids or yourself!), this is a great time of year for school-related layout inspiration and revisiting kits in your stash that help to scrap them!
Let me share a bit of inspo I’ve seen in the gallery recently and what I’m loving or taking from them. Click on any of them to see them full size in the gallery!

After pocket scrapping for the first time in a while last week, I was immediately drawn to this pocket page by wvufan04 – such great photography combined with crisp lines and a great visual story
and then this page again using pocket cards, but in a freestyle way by Vrielinkie – love the stacking and the way the banners are layered in as well,
but check out these library pockets too – a really cute twist on the pocket idea and a great way to combine individual snapshots, by Lynnette
Don’t worry if the first day is too hectic or someone doesn’t want to cooperate with the family photographer, candids are great for documenting too, like these familiar moments by chigirl and Karen below.
Or maybe the kids would be happier to have a photo with their friends like Trish’s daughter, or the old ones could give you a selfie of theirs to scrap?
Or maybe you are the teacher and you are documenting your own classroom, like Farrah! Lots of great detail shots included, of course.
It’s also a great time for some comparison ‘then and now’ pages – the difference a few years can make – the side by side placement is fantastic in the design full of ephemera by kayteapea and that same front door (it is! i asked!) adds some extra perspective to HeatherB’s photos below.
And it could even be a furbaby’s schooling you document, like chigirl again – from the photos, puppy looks like a star pupil so this is definitely one for the books, and that template with stars would work perfectly for less furry students too!
So tell me, do you have any issues taking or scrapping ‘back to school’ photos? Does it feel like ‘here we go again’, like Christmas morning photos to you at all, or are you excited by all the stationery and elements that go with the school theme?
Happy scrapping!

I love collecting all the back to school goodies in the store! I know I’ll always use them because there are always school pictures! ;)
