Hi everyone! Guest Polly Gaelle here to show you how to make a pocket page on your phone/tablet using the Project Life app and your favourite Lilypad products.
During my Guest period, I want to show you how to make pocket pages easily with your phone or tablet. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Project Life application, which lets you create the pages. Later we’ll see how to add text (title and/or journaling), embellishments and how to personalize our layout.
For several years now, I’ve been making a Project Life album every year. However, it took me some time to find the right way to present it. I started by making layouts based on the photos I had for each week, and as I didn’t have many photos at the time, that was pretty easy. But as time went on, I started using my phone more and more to take photos and I ended up with far too many. So I tried ready-made templates in grid form : pocket templates (NBK-Design , Valorie Wibbens for example). It saved me a bit of time, but it took a long time to resize the photos and move them around.
Then I discovered the Project Life app launched by Becky Higgins on phones and tablets (iOS and Android). The app is free with a basic template pack. It’s become so easy to make a pocket page thanks to this app that I can’t do without it any more and instead of spending time on social networks scrolling through everything and anything I can make my Project Life wherever I want.
However, before you can start your first page, you need to prepare your stash, as you’ll be using your computer or tablet. In this article, I’m going to show you some screenshots from my phone (but it’s the same with your tablet).
First of all, you need to install the application (iOS and Android ) and then you need somewhere to store your photos and pocket cards.
You can use a storage space like Dropbox, Google Drive or your phone’s memory. Personally, I prefer to put everything on my phone because I can scrap even without an internet connection ; the downside is that it takes up space so you have to clean it out (quite often). The advantage of Dropbox is that it can be accessed directly from the Project Life application. If you use Google Drive or another storage space, you’ll need to save the photos and pocket cards to the phone’s memory.
Once your photos and cards are accessible, you can get started.
Now you can open the application.
Tap on Create, then Collage Page and you will see a grid in front of you : this is your template.
We’ll see later that you can change the template. The application has a set of free templates and various packs of paid templates.
Then tap on each of the slots to insert your photos and cards.
Tap on the small magnifying glass – or on the grey background – to return to the full page. This allows you to fill in all your boxes.
If you want to move a photo, it’s very simple: press and hold your finger on the photo (or card) and you’ll see the photo (card) detached, move it with your finger over a new location then release. If you want to delete it, put it in the bin.
To take things further, you can make a number of photo adjustments (brightness, contrast, saturation and rotation). You can also use the Edit in application, which gives you even more photo editing options.
To zoom in on the photo, you can spread your fingers.
In just a few minutes, you’ve created a pocket page. And if by chance you want rounded edges on your photos and cards, tap on Layouts then in Corners tap on Rounded and the change is made instantly, confirm by tapping on Done. To return to square corners, tap on Square and Done.
Your page is now complete.

You can export it for a future use on your computer. To do this, simply tap on the icon at the bottom right with the little arrow, then Export and Image. After a few seconds, you’ll be asked where you want to save your page. You can save it to your photo feed or directly to Dropbox. I advise you to save it in your photo feed if you want to add embellishments later (next tutorial).
Congratulations! You’ve created your first pocket page using the app Project Life and your favourite cards from The Lilypad.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this article and I’ll see you in a month’s time for another one.
