Hi everyone, Sarah here, and I’m excited to be sharing with you some of the ways that I use digital journal cards in my weekly planner pages. For these pages I’m using the Me and My Big Ideas Happy Planner but these techniques will work with many of the other planners currently available on the market.
For this set of pages I decided to use Just Jaimee’s September 2014 Storyteller Collection. I just love the great variety of journal cards (as well as other elements) included in these collections and the bold fall colors were just the perfect touch for this week’s planner pages.
I began by printing out a few of the journal cards from the collection onto bright white card stock and then trimming each card with my paper trimmer.
One way I love to use these cards is by punching holes in the side and using them as extra space to jot down notes or lists throughout the week.
I can also use one of these punched journal cards to act as a bookmark so that I can easily find my place during the week. When the week is over I simply move it back down on the discs, but you could also just move it to the next week and continue using it as a bookmark (if you want to do this I would either laminate the card or cover it in contact paper to make it sturdier).
One thing I’ve noticed with my planner is that if you resize a vertical 4″x6″ journal card to 1.5″ wide, it the perfect size for the boxes in my planner. Other planners may have slightly different box sizes, however by simply resizing and possibly cropping a journal card you can get some really fun boxes to fill up your planner with.
I also used some horizontal 3″x4″ journal card again resized to 1.5″ wide to create some fun half boxes for my pages.
And some vertical, 3″x4″ journal cars, resized to 1.5″ wide and then cropped to half box size for even more possibilities. Each of these boxes from the different journal card sizes were printed out on sticker paper along with some other items from the collection used to decorate my planner pages.
After placing all of my boxes I took the final 4″x6″ journal card that I had printed on card stock an cut it down to fit into the middle section of boxes on the right hand side. Since this space is 6″ wide on my planner it is the perfect spot for a fun journal card such as this one.
I was then able to take the piece that I had trimmed from the bottom of the card and use it on my sidebar for decoration.
My final step was to add some additional stickers that I had printed out from the collection and decorate my pages.
I really hope some of these ideas help you create your own beautiful planner pages. I love how much you can add to your pages just by using some of the amazing journal cards included in so many of our digital scrapbooking kits.
