MOC Spotlight Part 1

Hello everyone!  It’s Polly Karen here bringing you a SUPER-sized special edition spotlight post!  Since we are knee deep in awesome daily challenges here at The Lilypad for MOC (Month of Challenges) I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shine my spotlight on a couple of the standouts for each of the daily challenges so far.  I am going to try my very best to pick two for each of the first 7 challenges that have already been posted for this month… but we all know I’m terrible at narrowing my choices sometimes.  Ha ha!  So grab a snack and a drink and enjoy all these amazing layouts!

Shwoooo-weeee!   I could NOT stop adding pages to this post!  Ha ha ha!  I’m not even sorry!  I just had a blast strolling through each thread, although I never made it to the end of any of them because this was getting so long already!  Suffice it to say that the gallery and forums are bursting with creativity and I was totally inspired by all of it.  This is exactly why I love the Month of Challenges (MOC).  I hope you enjoyed browsing just a sampling of the amazing pages being churned out for this year’s MOC.  They are all linked if you’d like to leave these artists some much deserved love!  I will be back again in a few weeks to do another super sized spotlight spot!  Until then, have fun scrapping!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
