January is a time for fresh starts. We often have the best of intentions in January…
I am going to stick to Project Life this year.
I will lose that extra holiday weight.
I will stop (insert bad habit here).
You get the idea. One thing that has become popular in helping to try and keep to resolutions is picking a One Little Word to guide through. 2014 marks the 7th year I have participated in OLW. While some years were more productive than others, one thing that I have found to really help me is keeping a visual representation of my word.
As Scrapbookers, the first obvious pick would be to scrapbook your word. Polly Heather has scrapped this beautiful insert for her project life album:
Another great choice is jewelry. One of my lovely Facebook friends Jane, recently had this bracelet made by Lisa Leonard. Not only is it gorgeous but it also includes her past OLW’s too:
While I usually make a bigger statement piece I also like to keep a simple list of my words, both past and present, on my inspiration board above my computer:
I found this lovely mantle while browsing Pinterest one day. I think the clothes-pinned letters would make an awesome reminder of your OLW:
Speaking of Pinterest, a simple search of One Little Word will give you many, many, many ideas of how to keep your OLW visual during the year:
If you haven’t picked a OLW for 2014, I hope this post has inspired you too. It’s the one trend that I fully encourage people to jump on the bandwagon for.
p.s. If scrapping your OLW appeals to you and you haven’t yet, you may want to wait a few days and keep an eye out on the Month of Challenges forum. Just saying ;)
One Little Word (OLW) is a concept made popular in the scrapbooking industry by Ali Edwards. You can read about Ali’s OLW process, past words and more on her blog.
