January 15: Paper Blending (Technique Challenge)

This is an ATC.
Four papers were used for the background with hard light and overlay blend modes. The large face has a luminosity blend mode.

I love using blending modes! I used Linear Burn on two background papers, then used Screen and Overlay for the textural overlays, plus a Hue adjustment with a mask. The background took longer to do than the photos & elements!

I chose two papers: a red/gesso paper and a b/w snowflake paper. I applied a blend mode of Lighten to the snowflake paper and a layer mask to block it out. I then painted back in the parts of the snowflake paper around the gesso parts of the base paper. The blend mode make the snowflakes red instead of black.

@MariSt - perfect blend of papers for this outdoor winter scene! Love it!
@pitiscrap - beautifully blended photo and papers!
@jenn33199 ....the blending and colors are amazing!
@turtlebug - love your interpretation of the paper blending with the pocket page!
@mcurtt - love the blending, it's so artsy!
@ta_merkins ...love the use of the chevron paper in your blending and your tree is gorgeous!
@crazsquaw - glad you figured out how to do it with your program, love the muted tones!
@lucysmom ....great blending and love that you used orange with blue (one of my fave combos).

Not much I didn't blend here! Papers, accents...felt like having fun. Blended 3 papers, reduced the fills added color burns to accents....lots of fun!

I had SOOOOOO much fun with this challenge!!! First I doctored up the photo by extracting me and turning the rest to b&w. Then I changed the color of my dull brown sweater; added color to the flames and brightened up the white flowers on the mantel.
I then took a solid pink (the same one behind my photo), and added a very pale paper with all over pink and yellow tiny flowers. I used the Luminosity blend on the papers and merged them. I then put a green and white swirl paper on top and again used the Luminosity blend but brought the opacity down to 70%. I couldn't believe the results!! No green!! But I loved it!!! Thank you for teaching me something new today!! :byay:dancebun:clap (Oh, and don't tell anyone, but I also took some weight off me!! hee hee I LOVE PSE!!!)

I've done this type of blending before; but I'm gonna check out the video anyway. I'm a GIMP user; probably one of the few, but any resource I can find that pertains to scrapping is always welcome!

MOC_15 Blended Background
Supplies all from Allison Pennington - i am what i am kit (used her kit name for inspiration but modified it slightly)
I used 3 papers from the kit for blending. The second in a saturation mode @ 86%; the third in a luminosity mode @ 32%. I was going for a psychedelic look to set off this colorful and fun layout I had in my mind.
