Continuity in printed books is something I never thought to try. I have always been a scrap a memory as the muse hits (or new kit comes out) kinda gal. I would date them and print in a organized and chronological way. Painstakingly making sure I got all the memories in for each book. This meant some really rushed pages, and layouts that were almost painful in there composition and colors! They still were read, and enjoyed, but my creative streak cringed at them. Although very eclectic, they were a shock to the eyeballs too!
Due to Covid, (I mistakenly believed it would only be a few weeks), I started a daily page challenge to myself. It was light and fun and full of facts and us coping with the pandemic.
As day pages became weeks, and more of a Project COVID Life my pages had two page spread feel. I used so many templates, and would add extra photos in to complete the weeks memories.
Not all two page templates work for my events or boring day to day photos and journaling. Sometimes I also wanted to break free and just scrap in my usual haphazard way without a template. I found using the same background helped the two pages flow better:
Another tip, is to use the same kit for two complete different memories. On the left is a full collage of photos from a fellowship at church, and a few funny Covid memes. I used the same kit as the right page (also happened at the fellowship) with my Granddaughter and me. Just a memory pulled from an event theme.
After 26 weeks of COVID, I started flipping templates to make double page FUN pages-this was a hot mess of happiness, a quick flip and fill in with as many photos as I could find! I had given my camera to a teen girl and said, take at least 100! She did! woot!
So, today, I want to show you and list the HOW to flip a template to get that continuity of a double page spread for your books.
- Open template, then duplicate it. IMAGE>DUPLICATE (bam you have a duplicate on your screen)
- Use IMAGE >ROTATE (the whole CANVAS) FLIP CANVAS horizontal
- To fix any text or something you didn’t want flipped, use EDIT>TRANSFORM (horizontal again)
These are the last pages made to date, week 28 of COVID craziness. This is the final results in the book(2nd book). Sharp and well pleasing to the eye. Two completely different events and themes, but brought together by both same kit and then a flip of same template.
I hope you enjoyed this walk thru my book preparing and how it has become easier and faster to finish books for my friends and family to enjoy. The process of completing a book is so stream lined, and I still get to play with new designs!

Great ideas Anne! I do this often to make sure my side-by-side pages look planned instead of haphazard. Often times, just moving a page out of chronological order can make the pages fit together better.
