Bonjour Happy Scrappers!
It’s December 12th… do you know where your Document Your December project is? We’re almost halfway through the month and you might be hitting the skids in terms of ideas (after all, there are only so many layouts you can make about fruitcake, right?). Well, here I am with an idea you may not have thought about: Using vintage Christmas kits to document childhood memories of Christmases past.
When I did Document Your December (DYD) for the first time last year, I had plenty of ideas because up until then, I had never scrapped about events, traditions, etc. But trying to think of ideas for every one of the 31 days of December is challenging. About halfway through, I hit a wall. Then, I found a few of the Christmas kits that featured ephemera from my childhood. It inspired me to pair the elements together with photos and memories from when I was a little girl. Here’s an example of what I came up with:
It was so much fun to scrap old Christmas memories that I poked around for other vintage-looking kits. And did I ever find them! Over the years, the fabulous designers of the Lilypad have created some really fantastic products that are perfect for this kind of documentation.
Here are a few offerings from our DYD and BYOC collections:
For me, there’s something really comforting about seeing those old-time images on my pages. It sends me back to a time of innocence– when the Christmas season was about magic and wonder rather than spending and stressing. I hope you were able to find a few new things that can help you document some of your most precious and cherished Christmas memories from the past.
Have a safe and happy season, everyone!
