Square Cards

Hello, Lilypad friends!!

I think we can all use a little encouragement right now, and one of my favorite ways to give love and encouragement is to make and send a card.

I was inspired by some elements in the Morning Rituals DSD Blog Hop Kit and decided to make some cards using them, but I wanted to switch up the size of the cards.

I decided to make square cards instead of the traditional A2 size card.

I created the cards using a 4×4 inch document in Photoshop, adding the element and sentiment to a solid-ish colored background.

I added a slight shadow to the elements I used on the cards as well to give a little dimension.

Then I flattened those images and placed them on a letter sized document to print and cut out using a paper trimmer.

I then adhered these to a white square shaped card background.

I cannot wait to use these cards to brighten someone’s day and I hope you’ll find some inspiration here to make a card to give someone encouragement in your life as well!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
