Member Spotlight
Hey all, Polly Jewelle here! I am super excited to bring you another TLP member spotlight! I had the opportunity to chat with charmedeebob this week. Sit back and enjoy getting to know her a little bit better!
Jewelle: What is your IRL name and your user name?
charmedeebob: Charmaine, aka charmedeebob
J: Could you provide a picture of yourself so we can see who you are?
C: Well, my first inclination was to give you this one, as this shows my personality…

but this one is technically a lot closer to my actual appearance and would be more helpful to recognize me if you were to ever pass me by on the street…

J: Where do you call home?
C: Southwest Washington state, about an hour north of Portland, OR, but I was born and raised in Canada. I moved to the USA 10 years ago to be with my husband.
J: Do you digital, hybrid or both?
C: I guess I’d say both. I started paper years ago, then went 100% digital for several years. With the advent of Project Mouse and Project Life, I’ve started pocket scrapping and I *really* love it!
J: How long have you been scrapping?
C: I paper scrapped back in the late 90’s, then stopped for several years. I’ve been a regular scrapper since 2008 when I discovered digi.
J: What is the starting point for your pages – photos, the story, products?
C: Always the photos and the story behind them! I usually have an idea of a photo or a theme of an event with some journaling to go with photos before I ever pick out a kit or a template. If I am doing a creative team layout for a designer, sometimes the kit comes first, but I can’t usually pick kits first!
J: How would you describe your style?
C: I always have trouble answering this question! I guess I can only say, “realistic”, leaning towards traditional. I strive to perfect shadow work, it is one of the first skills I really concentrated on when I started digital scrapping. I don’t do much fantasy or art journal types of pages.
J: Any must-have items or techniques on all of your pages?
C: I always perfect my shadows on each layout, usually warping and blending them to suit the elements. I’ve created my own actions to satisfy my need to make them look just right! I also adore a good funky title or wordart as the finishing touch to my page.
J: Could you share a favorite tip or trick?
C: My newest favorite “trick” is something I learned from Krista’s (Sahlin Studio) blog. There is a plug-in/action to track credits for you! No more scribbling down on pieces of paper or keeping 12 folders open until you write up your credits for galleries! I highly recommend Anna Forrest’s Credit Tracker!
J: Do you listen to music while you scrap? What kind?
C: No. I prefer the sweet sound of SILENCE!! I typically only scrap after my three kids are in bed, who are 7, 6 and 3. So the only thing I like to hear after a busy day is…NOTHING!
J: What’s your favorite snack (if any) while you scrap?
C: I don’t usually snack while scrapping, but if I do, it’s usually chocolate!
J: What time of day do you feel most creative?
C: I feel like my best pages are created in the mornings, but it is very rare these days that I get morning scrapping time! I still like my pages created in the evening hours, but they typically take much longer to be satisfied with.
J: Do you have picture of your workplace?
C: I won’t horrify you with a picture of my messy desk. Instead, I will show you a cute picture of my new thirty-one Small Utility Tote that I have put all of my Project Life and Project Mouse supplies into! Isn’t it adorable? It’s coming on vacation with me in 2 weeks!

J: Please share with me the top 3 layouts that you’ve created:
C: Yikes, this is like picking favorite children! I guess I will share three that I’ve gotten the most comments on from the wonderful people at TLP in the gallery who leave so much love!
I’ve enjoyed getting to know Charmaine a little bit better, and I hope you have too! Do you want to be spotlighted on the TLP blog? Keep posting your awesome layouts in the gallery and you may be next!
