Giving hybrid another chance…

Hiya friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful day!!! Happy President’s day to all of us in the U.S.!

Okay, okay, I admit it. I was a die hard digital scrapbooker from 2007-2010. In fact I turned a lot of people from paper scrapbookers into digital scrapbookers over that period of time declaring it superior. 🙂  But as my children got older, and more interested in doing my hobbies WITH me, and as I spent more time at the computer for other activities (photography, online classes, etc.) I pulled a way from digital scrapbooking, and recently fell in love with paper scrapbooking.  Now this was a personal decisions and I totally still get all the positives to digital scrapbooking over paper scrapbooking, but for me, in this time… paper is where it is at.

When I think of hybrid projects I have seen in the digital community over the years many of them are mainly digital products printed out on paper and made into a beautiful piece of work. And while I love the product of this method from the many talented artists in our community, it never spoke to me personally.  Instead I wanted to use digital products as a way to enhance and personalize my traditional scrapbook supplies.

Some of my favorite ways to do with are simply with doodles, alphas and masks. For this paticular project I  used some of my all time favorite products here at the pad!!!!

Hi, I am Shanna and I am addicted to Karah’s “outer limits” series! I swear they are on EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of my digital layouts.  To me, they are just that perfect touch!

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to a million pieces the “let’s make a list” series from Designs by Lili.

There is a couple reason’s I really like these two products for hybrid projects, they essentially look a digital stamp. Also you can change the color to match any paper line you are working with.  I love that adding these products to my paper lines make it personal and unique.

My husband is currently deployed, and we thought it would be fun for the girls to have something to look forward to each month. So Jonathan and I put together little dates for the girls and I to do together. They range anywhere from mini golf to the zoo and they get to open a letter with a clue for our fun girls day each month. I wanted to document this for my husband as well as have a place to put all the pictures from our outings in one place.

For this project I made a Valentine’s mini album  (this was their Valentine’s gift as well as the first clue) using the line from Crate paper: Paper Hearts. By using these digital goodies in my project I was able to bring a continuity to the mini album. I really love how it turned out and I can’t wait to add to it as we go on our adventures!

I love how this project turned out and I really LOVE that special touch the digital products allowed.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, and I will be back soon with some other hybrid ideas!

xox – Shanna
