Hello again, Polly Stefanie here with a step by step template tutorial. This time I chose a clean and simple style template from Designed by Soco.
I started with my most recent photo in the large circular photo spot, and then added more photos to the additional circle spots. When it comes to my children’s birthdays I get quite nostalgic and this template tweak was perfect for the story I wanted to tell.
Next I added papers, journaling and a few embellishments into the spots as suggested by the template.
But then in typical “more is more fashion”, I added an additional paper layer, by duplicating the one that was there – custom shadow included. I made a little cluster at the top left of the layout, to cue the topic of change and the introduce the viewer to the topic. I accentuated the split background of the design by adding additional splatter brushwork, and added my title and a word art. The symbolism of the hearts and flying bird also add details about his growing up and flying the nest.
I hope that seeing the changes I made to this template encourages you to make a clean and simple template slightly busier, or to tweak paper spots to photos spots and vice versa.
