This week, we are featuring the distinctive style of honorary Polly, Shanna Noel. Shanna spent many years on the creative team here wowing us with her hybrid creations. She is currently serving on the design team at Studio Calico, where she continues to inspire with her pages that marry the best of paper and digi. Shanna’s style is playful, colorful and filled with fun details. Her pages are full of artistic whimsy in her use of paint splatters, mist and doodles. They also come from the heart, which shines through in all of her scrapbooking spreads, especially her Project Life work. Art + heart – that’s Shanna Noel style. Shop her look all this week at 20% off in The Lilypad store.
Here’s Shanna in her own words: “Hi everyone! I am so excited to be here today sharing with you some of the things I am passionate about! I started digital scrapbooking in 2007 and quickly became addicted. My first EVER CT was with Amy Wolff, right here at the pad! THANK YOU AMY!!! Before I knew it, I was a Polly and loving every moment of it. Then there came a time I found myself on the computer too much, and as my kids were getting older I wanted to involve them in the process more so I stopped doing digital all together, took a break and then found paper scrapbooking. I started paper scrapbooking in the summer of 2011, again I fall in love quickly! But there were some things I would miss about digital scrapbooking, the ease of journaling, quickly creating a “messy” background, using templates etc. That is when I started playing with hyrbid scrapbooking, and haven’t looked back. I am currently on the DT with Studio Calico where I have my first line (PRINTSHOP!!!) releasing very soon. I was asked to be the art director for a line, and I can’t even tell you what a fun experience that has been! I hope you enjoy my picks, I went with things that inspire me and are easy to incorporate into hyrbid scrapbooking!”

Shanna also shared some fascinating insights into her creative process as she prepares to work on page: “When I am gathering supplies for a project I love to really look at color and texture. Pinks, yellows, and golds are some of my favorite colors and I love how they look all together. Once I printed my journal cards I grabbed the cards in this color range and began to build my supplies from there. I like to have all the things I need on hand, this way when the inspiration flows you can just go with it! Think of it as your own little kit! I have a mad crush on washi tape so I grabbed three rolls right away. I also thumbed through my journal cards I already had on hand paying attention to color! For the ampersand card on the lower left I simple cut that from a scrap piece of paper I had left over my a layout. Misting plays a huge role in my creative process so I grabbed a couple of my faves. Something else I like to think about when creating is texture so I made sure to add some metal and wood elements, and from there it was just a matter of gathering all those little bits I have had laying around that I haven’t had a chance to use yet (*cough*hoarding*). Now I am all set to go and create!!! I personally can’t wait for Printshop to hit the stores, but until then these journal cards are sure a fun way to hold us over! I hope you all enjoy!”
