Using Pocket Supplies on Traditional Layouts
Before I started doing Project Life, I would always look at the pocket supplies and think, “Those are nice, but really what am I going to do with them?” If you’re not a Project Lifer, or other form of pocket scrapping, you’ve probably thought the same thing from time to time. Maybe you love the cards of a certain designer, or you really like the journal card templates another designer releases – but you assume that those supplies are for pocket scrappers only. Now that I’m on the “other side” I can tell you – you are wrong. There are tons of fun and innovative ways to use pocket scrapping supplies on traditional layouts.
For example, when I picked up these journal card templates by Valorie, I knew that I could make them work on a traditional page (she even suggests it in the preview!). Check out the layout I made using her templates.
To make this layout, I opened a 12×12 document in Photoshop, as well as the template from Valorie’s set that I wanted to use. I selected all of the layers from the template that I wanted on my layout, and dragged them into the 12×12 document. From that point, I re-sized template, and adjusted the placement. Once that I was done, I added papers and my photo and I was done. I ended up with a nice layout that had the same look at Valorie’s templates and was done lickety split.
This layout by Polly Ashley uses Valorie’s new Journalers No.3 set, and it looks great.
Another way to use pocket scrapping supplies on a traditional layout is to use the journal cards directly on your layout. Sara has a great series of templates that are made for this specific purpose, the Plant Your Story {Journaled} series.
Lots of Pollys use pocket scrapping journal cards on their layouts. Check out these great layouts!
Finally, a fun way to use pocket scrapping supplies on a traditional layout is to make the journal cards the star of the layout. These are some great examples of that in action.
Have you ever used pocket supplies on a traditional layout?
