In my scrapbook page design, paint almost always plays a role. It is so versatile and can enhance your page in so many ways. You can use a little or a lot, you can overlap, duplicate, resize, recolor and texturize it to your heart’s desire. Here’s a page I created with One Little Bird “Chestnut Lane” and “Still Life” kits. That background paper is just amazing, so I kept my the emphasis on the lower portion of the layout ,so a large portion of the background paper is visible. I’m very happy with how it looks, with the scattering of elements, word art and title work. But now I want to add a bit more pizzazz with paint. This is when the fun starts. I love the freedom, the creativity, that comes with playing with paint.
Using Just Jaimee “March Storyteller MM Paint“, M3 March 2015 Kit, Little Butterfly Wings “Mess It Up 5“, “M3 November Add-On Paint“, and Mommyish “Thick Paint Styles” (once you see these in action, you are going to run to the store to get them, you can thank me for enabling you LOL). Here’s my layout but now it is has been enhanced with the above mentioned products.
Let me break it down for you, share how I finished off my page, with this assortment of paint.
You’d never know it, but there is a tag tucked under the photo, on the left side, which has the brown tones. I placed some “Mess It Up” paint on the layer above the tag, but beneath the photo layer. I changed the blend mode to “luminosity” which left the brown tones showing through. The rest of the paint was placed below the photo layer except for Just Jaimee’s paint which I placed overtop of the photo in the upper left corner with blend mode changed to linear dodge and erased a bit off the photo. The gesso (white) paint I placed in the upper right side and slightly reduced the opacity. On Lynne Marie’s M3 transfer, I applied one of Mommyish’s “Thick Paint Style”.
Using an adjustment layer to change the color, reducing opacity and/or changing the blend mode all greatly affect the look of the paint and increases the versatility of the product. I hope that I’ve inspired you to play with paint on your next scrapbook page. Hope you have as much fun as I do with paint!
