  1. Search for Inspiration. For me, inspiration is everywhere. It could be a billboard, an email ad, a piece of mail. It could be music, a quote, galleries, or even photo albums. I look in many places to find inspiration. The Lilypad Gallery is my top gallery choice when I need a creative boost.
  1. Pinterest. Aside from Pinterest being a great source of inspiration, if you are already a user it is likely that you have pinned something to one of your boards that you want to try. Do it! Open up your Pinterest board and knock the dust off of some of those pins. You will feel accomplished.
  1. Challenge Yourself. Visit the forum and participate in the challenges. Sometimes a challenge is just the push you need to get out of a rut. Did you know that besides the monthly challenges, that there are weekly challenges at The Lilypad? It’s true. You can visit the Weekly Challenge forum for challenges that are posted every week. You can also visit the Art Journaling Pad for multiple challenges each month.
  1. Try new Techniques. Have you always wanted to learn how to do a certain technique? The Lilypad offers many tutorials. Learning a new technique will certainly give your creativity a boost.
  1. Take a Class. There are several places that offer online classes. You can also find classes in local craft stores. Not only will you learn some new tricks, but you will likely be eager to put them to good use.
  1. Go shopping. A little retail therapy does everybody some good. In the digital community this also holds true. Take a moment to browse through the shop. You will bound to find something that will trigger a memory and get you back on the fast track to scrapping.
  2. Read a Magazine. Looking at beautiful, colorful photos in magazines will usually send my creativity into overdrive.
  1. Clean up. I don’t mean take a shower. I don’t mean mop the floors. I mean tidy up if there is clutter around. Clutter can be distracting. Distractions drain creativity. social media. Squirrel! What was I saying?
  2. Organize. This works well in conjunction with cleaning up.  I find it helpful to occasionally take some time to clean up the hard drive. Organize files. Purge some things you have been holding on to that are taking up valuable space. You might even find things you forgot you had and will now be eager to use.
  1. Walk Away. Sometimes you just need to take a break. Step away from what you are working on for a moment, or two, or three. Distract yourself with something else. When you come back to what you were working on later you will feel refreshed.

I hope these tips will inspire you to create something when you are finding it hard to be creative.
