Must Get Photo Ops for Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is a big day for many, some due to Covid are unable to see friends and families, others are gonna have housefuls!  Facetime screen shots for those far away conversations are a must to get.  Remember 2020, and be grateful for what we do have around us.  I went to a few sites for “normal” ideas and gave them a little twist!  Take as many as the guest allow you too!
  •  Behind the Scenes

This is all the prep, from the house cleaning, to the food prep.  The non-cooks need some camera attention too! I think there is football on somewhere! The kids are running around, go find them and get some pre-eating shots! These are the best.  There is a lot of work, just like in movies/tv to make the magic of Thanksgiving happen.  Get those workers in the shots!

Interview some of the kids, about what is Thanksgiving about and video them for scrap pages to cover this day.

  • Take a Picture of the Prayer/Grateful  Process

Many go around the table, telling what they are grateful for over the past year.  Tears and laughter run together through this, snap some shots, take notes and record these on a page to remember.

  • Take a Group Photo

From the hall looking in, give the phone to a kid and get their perspective of the group.  You can do a everyone gather tight and snap some pics, but a few to make a panoramic will be a dynamite memory to showcase for your Thanksgiving pages.

  • Shoot the Process of Roasting a Turkey/Pizza

Yeah, we don’t eat turkey.  Years ago, our family decided we really don’t like that bird.  The sides are not our favorite and we wind up throwing so much away.  We have done meatball sandwiches with a huge salad, store bought pizzas (they were the worst, and we were so hungry.  This year, we are having a big salad and make your own pizza.  With a pizza bar of toppings! Each pizza will be highlighted and the chef’s smile.

Getting shots of different peoples plates is fun! Some people pile on the turkey and tiny bits of cranberry, others go for the mash taters, or yams.  Get a few photos of the plates and if you go fancy table, by all means snap a few shots!

  • Capture Emotions

This is having your camera/phone ready.  Things happen, accidents, and smiles, hands being held and throw their heads back laughter.  Be ready to get a few of these to set the mood of the day.  Two family members who are polar opposites in politics side by side in debate is a great one!

  • Take Candid Shots/Selfies (even use filters)

I am very big about handing my phone to kids.  I turn the camera on, and tell them to take 100 photos, selfies if they want.  These photos are usually the very best of the day.  Be adventurous, and give it a whirl.

Take a whole bunch of selfies.  Get a photo app, like SnapChat and grab gramma and take a selfie with the long lashes and be young filter.  A few swap faces one, are hilariously great!

No matter how many photos you take or forget to take, I am so grateful for each one of you here that make the Lily Pad an amazing place!
