MOC 2017 Spotlight – Take 1

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!  It’s Polly Karen here at the end of the first week of the 5th annual Month of Challenges (MOC5).  I don’t know about you but I LOVE the boost to my mojo that MOC gives me!  I’ve been scrapping every evening and when I’m not scrapping, I’m thinking about scrapping!  I can tell that I’m not alone because I’ve been browsing the gallery and there are SO many fantastic layouts in there!  I am here to shine my spotlight on just a tiny percentage of those fabulous layouts.  I’m going to highlight just a few from the first 8 challenges that have been posted.  I’ll be back towards the end of the month to do it all again!  🙂

Wow!  That was SO much fun!  I spent HOURS looking through the challenge threads and looking some seriously amazing creations.  I will have to admit that the journaling pages, especially the All About pages were some of my favorites because you guys really did some major journaling and that always makes my heart sing!  I also have a soft soft for the awesome ATCs that everyone has been creating for my own challenge too… so much fabulous creativity just bursting from the gallery!  I will be back in a few more weeks to do this all over again and I can’t wait!  Until then, keeping scrapping and have fun with MOC5!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
