Hi Happy Scrappers!
Polly Liana here, with a quick tutorial about how to construct adorable snowmen out of marshmallows. It’s the perfect craft for a child’s party– in fact, we’re making these for my daughter’s fifth birthday this weekend. Follow along and you’ll be hanging out with these fine fluffy fellows in no time!
Here’s what you will need:
bamboo skewers
marshmallows (full size)
mini chocolate chips
Oreos
dark chocolate mini Reeces peanut butter cups
dark chocolate frosting
orange tictacs
red gel icing
Twizzlers
skinny pretzels
cheese picks or a similar thin, sharp stick (toothpicks would probably work)
(it would also be helpful to have some pieces of styrofoam, paper plates and small rubber bands)
Here’s how to construct them:
1. slide three marshmallows on to the skewer, then wrap a rubber band right below the bottom marshmallow to keep them from slipping. Poke the skewer into the styrofoam so it’s standing on its own
2. using a sharp pick, poke two fairly deep holes in the top marshmallow where you want the eyes
3. push a mini chocolate chip into each hole, point side first so the flat side is showing on the outside
4. poke a hole for the nose and push a tictac into the marshmallow
5. poke three holes for the buttons and push in three mini chocolate chips in the same way as the eyes
6. poke two pretzels on either side as arms
7. carefully draw a mouth with the red icing
8. cut a twizzler lengthwise into three very thin strips and tie one strip around the “neck” of the snowman
9. for the hat, open an oreo carefully and eat the side with the filling attached (I know it’s a hard job but suck it up) :)
10. smear a bit of chocolate frosting to the top marshmallow and put the brown oreo on the frosting, smooth side up
11. smear another bit of frosting on the oreo and add the peanut butter cup, upside down on the frosting
12. You’re done! Enjoy! :)
Now that you’ve had some crafty fun, why don’t you sit and consume your new “friend” while you participate in THIS:
