Hi scrappy friends!!
I hope you enjoyed Digital Scrapbook Weekend and all the events around here!! I love weekends like this that get me motivated and help me to reconnect with my love for scrapbooking! I always come away from Digital Scrapbook Weekend with a desire to scrapbook more.
I was recently inspired to create a “how to scrapbook more” image after seeing one on Instagram about how to read more. The concepts are much the same because many of them can be applied to any habit you want to create or hobby you want to participate in more.
I created this image using the Artist kit by Sabrina Creations. It was available during BYOC last weekend. I love how this kit truly celebrates the artist inside all of us.
So, let’s take a look at these 5 things you can do to scrapbook more…
(1) Throw Your Phone in the Ocean
Yes, this one is a little snarky. You don’t actually need to throw your phone in the ocean, but I think we can all admit that putting our phones away (or putting them on airplane mode) is helpful when we want to be more present. Our phones can be such a distraction to what we are desiring to accomplish. If it is your goal to scrapbook more, I would recommend putting your phone away when you’re sitting down to scrapbook and not getting distracted by scrolling instead of creating.
(2) Carry Your Camera and/or Journal with You at All Times
Make it an intention to always have a camera with you (your phone totally counts) so that you can capture the memories that you want to scrapbook. Another tool to keep at the ready is a journal so you can jot down your thoughts as well.
(3) Have Another Project or Layout Ready Before You Finish the One You’re On
The more you have a steady stream of ideas that you’re implementing, the more you will get done with your scrapbooking and the creative juices will continually flow. Having album projects or completing challenges are great ways to do this. Or you can just keep a running list of memories that you want to document.
(4) Schedule Some Time Each Day for Scrapbooking
If it is your goal to scrapbook more, you have to make time for it. It’s easy to push off our hobbies because they can seem to be “extra”, but we need to realize that these hobbies, especially creative hobbies like scrapbooking build into our lives in so many ways. So, we need to schedule time for them. Seriously…get out your calendar and block off time for scrapbooking just like you would any other important meeting.
(5) Share Your Work With Others
There are two very important reasons for sharing your work with others, accountability and encouragement. One of the best places to share your work is right here in the gallery! I also love sharing my layouts on Instagram and enjoyed seeing so many layouts shared there during Digital Scrapbook Weekend!
