Well hello 2017! I greet you with BIG OPEN ARMS! I think a majority of us would agree – 2016 was a doozy! Whew!
I always love this time every year because I’m always so hopeful about what the following year has in store. I am not an over planner. Ha! Not even close man and I really do tend to look at things in a practical way. Resolutions fade so I am going to concentrate on *reachable goals this year.
So with that in mind, I’ve drafted up a few steps for myself this year:
Out with the old – In with the new!!
Adios 2016, I’m gonna clear my head of you now. OK? OK! This is a good time to think about decluttering one room at a time. Remember the 3 sections, ‘Keep’ ‘donate’ and ‘throw away’. I always stand in sheer amazement of how I manage to save trash. No really – trash. I always look at my husband with a puzzled look and say ‘why did we keep the jelly of the month club jars’. Or some nonsense like that.
Dream it – then Draft it!
Set aside at least 30 minutes each day to dream up whatever makes your heart happy. Go big or go home babeee! Write it down as you go and keep the journal handy (I use my smart phone!) because once you start this process, things will pop in your mind out of nowhere :)
Step it up
If you have a financial goal of paying off a loan or 2, jot down the plan & what steps you need to take to get there. Take a breath – no one has to see this and remember this isn’t for a grade! If your goal is to pay off a debt, then maybe one of those steps could be to take your lunch every day, menu plan and shop at the grocery store just once a week.
Date stamp!
Now – right beside each goal for the year, set a date. If you think you can pay off that loan in a few months, then put March, 2017 right beside it. How cool does that look?! Encouraging right?
See it to believe it!
If possible (and if they aren’t too private), place your goals where you can see them as often as possible. This really does help. I was not a believer in this & scoffed at the thought. Oh boy I scoffed. But yall, it really does work!
So I say good luck to all of you in 2017! :)
