January 23: Connecting with Colour

Colour is all around us. As a child, we are often asked what our favorite colour is. As an adult, we might have our colours done and figure out which ones look best on us. We may decorate our space in a particular colour. Buy pens in a favorite colour. You may have heard of Colour Theory: the well-known connections between emotions and color. Red associates with anger, yellow with optimism and joy, green with growth and nature. Today, we are going to explore how we connect with colour in our lives.

Is there a colour that you gravitate towards? Are you always red in board games? Do you pick a green pen to sign things? Do you associate colour with certain things or people or places? Blue makes me think of the ocean and quiet. Rusty Orange is the cliffs of St. George, Utah. Purple is a color I love because I associate it with my grandma and a purple dress she gave me when I was a child.

For this challenge, I want you to think about how you connect with colour. Pick a specific colour and scrap about your connection to it. You must include the colour name and why or how you connect to that colour. You do not have to scrap solely with that colour. You must include at least 10 words about your colour connection.

Challenge Rules Recap:

Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:

1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).

2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.

3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.

Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad).

Your journaling should be in complete sentences to qualify as complete. Word art will not qualify toward your word count. You cannot use the same word over and over. You cannot use the same sentence over and over again. Question: Can it be a negative reaction to a colour?

Answer: As long as you can document how you connect with that color, even negatively, then yes.

Question: Can I do multiple colours?
Answer: For this challenge, please stick to 1.

Question: Is a photo required?
Answer: Nope!
