Let’s face it – we’re all busy. Whether you work outside the house, around the house, or spend your days homeschooling…we’ve all got a lot going on. With so much going on, it makes it hard to find time for scrapbooking. Between all of the things we need to get done, sometimes it’s hard to find time for ourselves. These three tricks, however, can help us all find more time to scrapbook and still get it all done.
1. Get up earlier – With two young girls, once we are all up for the day, things get a little hectic around here. One way I have found more time for scrapbooking is to get up an hour earlier in the morning. In that first hour of the day, I’m the only one up and I can get a cup of coffee and I can sit down and do really get some scrapbooking done without any interruptions.
2. Find ways to get more done on the run – Our smartphones are little computers in our pocket. Sure, it’s not really possible to get a full page done on your phone (yet), however there are some things that you can do on your phone while you are waiting in the doctor’s office, or in the pick up line at your daughter’s school. I use my phone to edit and organize photos, write down potential journaling, and research page layout ideas.
3. Set aside planned time for scrapbooking – I’ve learned this the hard way. I need to set aside specific time during which I scrapbook, even going so far as to note it in my planner. If I don’t “schedule” my scrapbooking, it’s too easy to let other things take over the time. You may think “I’ll get to it later” but the reality is that “later” may never come. When my time is scheduled, I feel as though that’s what I have to be doing at that point, and I am less likely to let anything take that time.
Realistically, there is no magic bullet in how to make more time for scrapbooking. The key I have found, on top of the three tips above, is that I need to believe that my scrapbooking is important to me. If I think it’s important to me, I will almost always find time to get it done.
