Greetings, Happy Scrappers!
Eek! Many of us will probably be celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow. If you’re trying to think of a quick and creative way to express your affection for those you love, I’ve got a simple craft project that requires minimal materials and it’s really easy to complete. Today, we’re making felt fortune cookie Valentines. Here’s how:
You’ll need pieces of felt in pink and red shades, thin craft wire, thin ribbon (it looks great if you match the color of the felt but I had white lying around so that’s what I used), scissors, craft glue and something with which to make the little paper messages.
First, you will make a bunch of circles that are about 4.5 inches in diameter. I found a bowl that matched that diameter so I just put it down on my felt and cut around it.
Next, cut a piece of wire that’s about 4 inches long and a piece of ribbon a bit longer than the wire.
Put the wire across the circle and squeeze a line of glue over it.
Place the ribbon over the glue and wire and tap it down gently.
When you’ve completed this step with all your circles, let they dry for at least 30 minutes, (You can use a glue gun to speed up the process but they might not be as flexible when you fold them.
When they’re dry, fold each one in half perpendicular to the ribbon, with the ribbon on the outside.
Then flip the felt up over the wire as shown.
I then used Word and the wonderful font “The Royal Invites” by Heather Joyce to create some tiny paper messages, about 3.5 inches long. My daughter decided what she wanted them to say. I printed them out and cut them into strips. Then I gently tucked one in each fortune cookie.
Done! Easy peasy, right?
