Feeling low – try these tips for a little more happy!
Oh man oh man, with all the doom and gloom on the news these days, I decided to start my own happiness project. I turned off social media and the news for a few days to focus on the good in the world.
If you feel the same way, maybe you too would like a list of a few suggestions to shift your environment. Of course, some may seem silly, but sometimes, silly is what we need. If doesn’t mean you don’t care or have empathy for what is going on in our world, it just means you are going to take the time for a little self care!
- Go for a walk in the park.
- Read a good book (bonus points if you have a book club)
- Connect with a friend you haven’t connected to in a while
- Sit on a park bench and just breath!
- Send a friend a card just because
- Clean your closet. Seriously. It’s amazing the benefits a clean space can bring
- Start your life list (I did 6 years ago and its so fun to see the things crossed off)
- Go for a bike ride
- Smile
- Make pudding (I personally find it impossible to frown while eating pudding)
- Watch a TED talk
- Write a journal entry
- Make a happy music album on your phone
- Stay off of all media for 24 hours
- Go through a drive through and pay for the person behind you
- Draw
- Drink more water
- Take a photo of something beautiful
- Make a list of things you want to do before your next birthday
- Take a 20 minute power nap
- Leave a generous tip at a restaurant (maybe with a small hand drawn note)
- Get rid of 3 things you never use
- Meditate or pray
- Treat yourself to a fancy coffee or tea
- Set a fitness goal
- Watch a funny movie
- Write down 3 things you are grateful for
- Check out a new book from the library
