February Challenge Spotlight

Hello everyone!  It’s Polly Karen here bringing you the first regular Challenge Spotlight post of 2018.  Once a month I have the privilege of looking through the challenge galleries to find just a few of my favorite layouts and shine my spotlight on them here.

If you aren’t familiar with the challenges, here’s a little information about them to get you started.  We offer 8 monthly challenges in the forum each month.  If you play along with these challenges you can earn yourself a coupon to use on your next Lilypad shopping spree.  You will earn as follows:  2 challenges = 10% off, 4 challenges = 20% off and 6 challenges = 30% off.  Also, if you finish at least 7 challenges, in addition to your coupon, you will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!  Now let’s look at some of the standout pages created for February’s challenges:

Once again I tried to pick just two pages for each challenge and once again I failed.  But that just means you get a few extra beautiful pages to be inspired by!   If you loved looking through the spotlight layouts above as much as I did, please take a minute and click on them and leave these artists a little love.  All images are linked.  Also, this is your reminder that today, February 28th is the last day to complete these challenges yourself and earn a discount coupon and possibly even a $50 gift certificate!  Now that is worth scrapping for!  I’ll be back tomorrow to show off the new batch of challenges for March.

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
