FALL in Love with October’s BYOC!

Polly Liana here, thrilled to be able to introduce you to our BYOC for October 2016.  For those of you new to the concept, BYOC stands for Build Your Own Collection.   On the first Friday of each month, we release a collection of products that have been designed around the same palette and concepts (this month, it was the second Friday because of all the great activities for iDSD weekend).  Because we have such a huge variety of designers’ styles, there is definitely something for every taste and interest.  You may have heard that we’ve added two new designers this month (Rebecca McMeen and Tangie Baxter) whose talents in mixed media and art journaling have strengthened our already amazing group of designers in those media.

This month’s palette is a warm, subdued blend of browns and oranges with light blue and pale pink surprises thrown in to round everything out.  There are beautiful, uplifting messages of kindness and strength, happiness and those cozy, warm feelings that everyone associates with this season.  Let’s take a look at the products, arranged by type.

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
