Hi Pad Scrappers!
Polly Liana here with a quick tutorial about how to use the Dremel’s sanding disk to cut holes in eggshells for fun Easter crafts. Last year, I had so much fun cutting eggshells and making things with the newly-hollowed eggshells. Here are two ideas:
First, using the Dremel’s flat sanding disk, make quick small cuts in the bottom of an eggshell. Make sure you do this in a deep sink since the liquid in the egg will shoot out as you cut.
After cutting a small circle shape, gently pull the shell out so there’s a hole. Pull the inside liquid out.
After rinsing and drying the shell, you can dye it or leave it natural. (I dry mine on the tops of wooden skewers stuck into a piece of styrofoam.) Fill the eggshell with candy. Note: I always use wrapped candy just in case– don’t want anyone getting sick from raw egg!
To close it, hot glue a small candy wrapper to the open end of the egg. When I put a bunch of dyed eggs in a basket with fake grass, the kids had no idea they were hollowed out and full of candy! They had a great time cracking them and opening them.
Another more intricate idea was to use the Dremel to open the front of the egg and then glue goodies inside the egg so it looks like a little window. I made these four last year. Super fun!
Have a great Easter, if you celebrate. Have a wonderful weekend, All!
