Hello scrappy friends!!
After celebrating my twin girls’ birthday on March 3, I boarded a plane with six friends and flew to Austria to spend a week working with women refugees in that country. We returned home just hours before our president announced a travel ban from outside the United States and to being self-quarantined at home for the next 14 days.
Our world changed in the short time that we were away.
I told my children that we are living in a historical period of time that their children and grandchildren will read about.
As scrapbookers, it is important for us all to document our stories during this time in history. It’s important that we document both the larger story of this global pandemic AND our personal stories of how it is affecting our daily lives.
Today I am sharing five ways that I am documenting this time.
//one// Photos
Photography is one of the best ways to document any moment. I am trying to be especially conscious of taking photos during this time. I am planning to do a day in the life project sometime over the next few weeks and I am taking at least one photo each day for a photo-a-day project.
//two// Screenshots
Take screenshots of any and everything that is specific to this time. I’m taking screenshots of text messages from friends, of social media posts that are meaningful, and any graphic that catches will document life during these uncertain days.
//three// News Stories and Headlines
Document through taking screenshots, writing down, or clipping news stories and headlines. There is so much going on and changing from day to day in the news that can be captured.
//four// Journal
Take a few moments each day to jot down your thoughts about what is happening in our world at large and in your own community or home. Maybe even take some time to journal what you are grateful during this time to get you through the hard moments of stress or anxiety.
//five// Memes
Sometimes we have to find a bit of humor and I have seen some pretty humorous memes floating around. I am capturing these as well to document the uniqueness of this situation and how we used humor to help us through it.
I pray that you are all healthy and safe and continue to be so. I would love to hear about how you are documenting this time!
