Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for December. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Random Challenge – The first challenge for December is hosted by Polly Lori (lcpereyra). Lori is challenging you to create a layout and get back to basics by created an element cluster anywhere on your layout. Your cluster should have a minimum of 6 elements in it. Here’s a great sample layout created by Lori:
2. Template Challenge – Christa (cfile) is hosting the Template Challenge for December. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Mirjam of Pink Reptile Designs and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Christa created:
3. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for December is hosted by Polly Jenn (jenn mccabe) and she has a super creative challenge to create a layout with journaling of sorts in a different form. She wants you to journal by adding different words or sentiments (at least 8) clustered around your photo. Here is a gorgeous sample that Jenn created (and there are more samples in the forum thread):
4. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for December is being hosted by Jenn (jk703). Since we can all agree that 2020 has been a bit of a mess, Jenn wants you to channel that mess onto a layout, but then also try to keep it between the lines. She’s calling this a clean, but messy page. Jenn would like you to use lots of paint, splatters, elements and whatever you’d like, but leave two edges of your page completely clean. Here’s a sample layout that Jenn created to get you started:
5. Journaling Challenge – Em (Justagirl) is hosting this month’s Journaling Challenge. As a self proclaimed glass half full kinda girl, Em would like to challenge you to create a layout with journaling with the prompt “the year that was…” and she’s suggesting that you share some of the positives that came out of 2020. Here’s a great layout that Em created for this challenge:
6. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for December is being hosted by Natasha (bcnatty) and she would like you to photograph something that inspires you to get outdoors. Natasha is further challenging you to take a photo specifically for this challenge! She wants to see you enjoying the outdoors and asks the question “What drags you away from your computer or off the couch?” Here’s what motivated Natasha to get outdoors:
7. Scraplift Challenge – This month’s Scraplift Challenge is hosted by Heather (HeatherB) and she chose the entire Designer’s Gallery to scraplift from in December. Simply go to Designer’s Gallery and find one layout you love and then create your own scraplifted version. Heather found a super fun layout by Liz of Scrapping with Liz and then scraplifted it:

8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Ashley (ashleywb) on Friday, December 4th when the BYOC Collection for December will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
