December Challenge Spotlight

Hello everyone and happy LAST day of 2018!   It’s Polly Karen here bringing you the last Challenge Spotlight post for this year.  Once a month I have the privilege of looking through the challenge galleries to find just a few of my favorite layouts and shine my spotlight on them here.

If you aren’t familiar with the challenges, here’s a little information about them to get you started.  We offer 8 monthly challenges in the forum each month.  If you play along with these challenges you can earn yourself a coupon to use on your next Lilypad shopping spree.  You will earn as follows:  2 challenges = 10% off, 4 challenges = 20% off and 6 challenges = 30% off.  Also, if you finish at least 7 challenges, in addition to your coupon, you will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!  Now let’s look at some of the standout pages created for December’s challenges:

I seriously can’t believe I am typing this on New Year’s Eve Day… and that tomorrow will be a brand new year.  I am so super excited that tomorrow brings the very first day of our Month of Challenges (MOC) though and if you haven’t heard about it or ever participated I sure hope you pop in tomorrow and check it out.  It is seriously my favorite month of the year and I look forward to it the second it’s over each year.  The forum is hopping with creativity and excitement and it’s really hard not to be inspired just by playing along!  I hope you’ll consider joining us!   Last year we had just shy of 400 people playing along and 241 people FINISHED!!!   Here is a thread in the forum with more information and a place where you can sign up too!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
