Bon Appétit – Setting the table for family & friends
Here in the Northeast we still have a bit of summer left to enjoy, but we are just starting to get a hint of the cooler weather lurking around the corner. The kids are almost back to school (after Labor Day for us!) and things are starting to wind down and transition from lazy days of summer to schedules & structure. For us, this means more dinners around the family table. It also is a time when the cooler temperatures of fall allow me to turn my oven on again and serve up lots of comfort food for my family. Speaking of comfort food and family dinners gathered around the table, Lynne-Marie has a gorgeous set of Bon Appetit products on sale today, some old, some new ... let's have a look. The Bon Appetit bundle is classic, elegant and perfect for scrapping family meals and delicious food, whether you make it yourself or are enjoying time eating out with family or friends. … [Read more...]
Polly Picks-Trista
Trista is a genius with a printer, scissors and GLUE!! Then onto of it, and she can scrap beautifully also! I think this Polly Picks will inspire and perhaps even be a gentle nudge to try a whole new side to Digital Scrapbooking! Read what Trista says about her style:"If you visit my gallery you will find that my scrapping style is all over the map. You will find anything from messy art journal pages to clean blocked pages and a little bit of everything in between. Some constants in my scrap pages are bold patterned papers, paint, paint, and more paint, stitches, journal cards, word art, brushes and stamps. Another thing that I seem to do a lot of lately is to use journal cards not only for pocket scrapping, but also in other ways. I really like layering journal cards on regular scrapbook layouts."The very first pages of Trista's gallery shows off her scrapping … [Read more...]
Back to School – It’s Personal
School is back in session! We have been discussing back to school over in the forum. It's a really hot topic! Check here and here to join in on the conversation.Getting organized in time for school can be a life saver. Let's face it, back to school means a lot of new stuff. There is the large bundle of school supplies, pencil boxes, notebooks, backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, and jackets just to name a few. Keeping up with all of those things can be a huge task for a child. One thing that helps prevent loss is personalizing your child's belongings. Here is a sampling of some of the personalized items on our list. First up are binder covers. Both kids have binders that are used on a daily basis so I created personalized covers and slipped them inside the clear front panel of their binders. For my son's cover I used the Srsly Stoked collaboration from Kate Hadfield … [Read more...]

The Hybrid Variety Show – Triangles
Welcome to the latest edition of the Hybrid Variety Show. This month we are taking on the challenge of triangles. You might notice that triangles are part of the current trend watch. Now is a great time to try your hand at something from the Trend Watch sale. Sarah created a hybrid layout using triangle elements. This page is so sweet and just super creative. Credits: Manic Monday Collab from Amy Wolff and Lynne Marie, Chalkies from Pink Reptile Designs, and Try-An-Angle from Heather Joyce. Here is what Sarah had to see about her creative process:I love the clean look of the Try-An-Angle template set from Heather Joyce. I thought it would be fun to use my Silhouette to create a layout using one of the templates in the set. My first step was to resize everything to 8" x 8" and then trace and cut using the different shapes (in this case lots of triangles) in the template and filling … [Read more...]
Finding JOY in ALL things
For years and years now, on my personal blog, my emails, texts and even this blog, I have signed off with ~never lose your joy. I hold this most dear to my heart. When things are no longer a JOY to me, I need to re-evaluate what I am doing. This doesn't always mean I am "happy", but have an inner peace that is JOY to my life. For instance, I don't get that happy euphoric feeling some people do with exercise, but I am rather joyful when my clothes fit comfortable. Another is disciplining my children, oh I want to spoil them rotten, but them becoming good adults is important, and brings great joy to my heart. Then there is the occasional dark chocolate mini....you get me?Imagine my JOY, when Forever Joy Designs popped in here at the Lily Pad!I got pondering, in the way that makes some of the awesome peeps in Lily Pad land worry...yeah...I wanted to try something a bit … [Read more...]
Trend Watch – Triangles
Triangles are more than a polygon with three edges and three vertices! A triangle is a plane created by connecting three points. The first two arguments specify the first point, the middle two arguments specify the second point, and the last two arguments specify the third point. bhhhaaa It is one of the basic shapes in geometry, and it rocks the scrapbook page! Toss out the math books and open that canvas on your computer and enjoy the TREND Watch sale and challenge all at the same time! That is so much easier, and you always get the right answer with the wonderful designs here at the Lily Pad! The fact that they are all on sale for the full TWO weeks the challenge runs is pure AWESOME too!Jen (an oldie but a goodie) has some great inspiration for the Triangle fun. I totally giggle at this page again and again! Photo bombs along with Lynne-Marie's Press Play 05 and … [Read more...]
