Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for April. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Scraplift Challenge – The first challenge for the month of April is the scraplift challenge and is being hosted by Heather (HeatherB). Heather has selected our TWO brand new Pollys that won their place on our Polly team for their stellar work in participating in the Month of Challenges in January. These two talented ladies are wonderful assets to our team! Your challenge is to pick just one layout in either Jen’s (JenEm) or Stefanie’s (Eyeore) gallery and then create your own scraplifted version. Here is a layout that Heather chose followed by her scraplifted version:
2. Random Challenge – The fabulous Jenn (jenn mccabe) is our host for the Random Challenge this month. Jen would like you to channel some old school scrapbooking and use at least one photo corner on your layout. You may use a pre-created photo corner or create one yourself. Here’s a gorgeous page created by Jenn with a photo corner (oh that cute puppy butt! Hee hee!):
3. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for April is being hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she has selected a great quote from the Sherlock Holmes book The Adventures of the Mazarin Stone, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: “Life is full of whimsical happenings, Watson.” Ashley would like you to use that quote as inspiration to add some whimsy to your layout. Here’s Ashley’s great whimsical layout:
4. Journaling Challenge – Em (Justagirl) is hosting this month’s journaling challenge. Em would like you to create a layout that uses journaling strips to highlight your journaling. You must use at least 15 words of journaling on your layout too. Here’s a beautiful sample layout Em created using journaling strips:
5. Template Challenge – Next up is the Template Challenge hosted by Christa (cfile). The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Designed by Soco and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Christa created using it:
6. Style Challenge – Jenn (jk703) is hosting the Style Challenge for April and has a super cool challenge in store for you. She wants you to see the invisible on your page. Jenn would like you to style a layout with a shape in mind, but without using that actual shape. She found a designer, Yegor Meteor (https://www.instagram.com/yegormeteor/) on Instagram if you’d like extra inspiration. Jenn also created this fabulous sample layout to get you started:
7. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for April is being hosted by Natasha (bcnatty). Natasha would like to challenge you to create a layout that features a photograph of something that brings you hope. Here is a perfect sample layout that Natasha created about what brings her hope:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Lori (lcpereyra) tomorrow, Friday, April 2nd when the BYOC Collection for April will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There is your peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the April Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
