Feeling low – try these tips for a little more happy!

Oh man oh man, with all the doom and gloom on the news these days, I decided to start my own happiness project.  I turned off social media and the news for a few days to focus on the good in the world.

If you feel the same way, maybe you too would like a list of a few suggestions to shift your environment. Of course, some may seem silly, but sometimes, silly is what we need. If doesn’t mean you don’t care or have empathy for what is going on in our world, it just means you are going to take the time for a little self care!

  1. Go for a walk in the park.
  2. Read a good book (bonus points if you have a book club)
  3. Connect with a friend you haven’t connected to in a while
  4. Sit on a park bench and just breath!
  5. Send a friend a card just because
  6. Clean your closet. Seriously. It’s amazing the benefits a clean space can bring
  7. Start your life list (I did 6 years ago and its so fun to see the things crossed off)
  8. Go for a bike ride
  9. Smile
  10. Make pudding (I personally find it impossible to frown while eating pudding)
  11. Watch a TED talk
  12. Write a journal entry
  13. Make a happy music album on your phone
  14. Stay off of all media for 24 hours
  15. Go through a drive through and pay for the person behind you
  16. Draw
  17. Drink more water
  18. Take a photo of something beautiful
  19. Make a list of things you want to do before your next birthday
  20. Take a 20 minute power nap
  21. Leave a generous tip at a restaurant (maybe with a small hand drawn note)
  22. Get rid of 3 things you never use
  23. Meditate or pray
  24. Treat yourself to a fancy coffee or tea
  25. Set a fitness goal
  26. Watch a funny movie
  27. Write down 3 things you are grateful for
  28. Check out a new book from the library
  29. Always check out the fun gallery at TLP!!
