2020 Reflections

2020 has been quite a year, hasn’t it? It is so important to be honest in our scrapbooking and that includes journaling about what a difficult year this has been. I’m sure many of us are documenting our very honest struggles through our scrapbook pages.

But it also includes looking deeper and trying to find the positives even in the most difficult of circumstances or periods of time that we go through. That is exactly what Em is asking us to do in this month’s Journaling Challenge.

I was inspired by this challenge to create my own layout about my 2020 (positive) reflections and here is the page I created:

When creating a layout that is focused on journaling, I like to start with writing my journaling first. That’s exactly what I did with this layout, focusing on the most positive part of 2020 for our family, which is our time together.

My family has spent a lot of time apart because of my husband’s military service. We’ve lived apart for three entire years and have had lots of other time away because of training and other travel. One positive aspect of this year is that my husband has worked from home since March and we’ve had a lot of time together that we normally wouldn’t have. That is something that I am incredibly grateful for even in this difficult time.

I began this layout by typing out my journaling in a typewriter font and then chose a template and kit that would allow the journaling to be showcased. I opted to use the drawing of a face included in the Flaws and All elements kit by Pink Reptile Designs instead of a photo. I decided to use an alpha, papers and additional elements from her Unscripted kit because the muted colors went well with the overall feel I wanted for this layout.

I enjoyed looking through the layouts already created for this journaling challenge. Looking for the positive in what has been a difficult year can be challenging. It is a challenge that is well worth taking!
