Your title can be the perfect finishing touch to your layout. It’s not always easy to think of a title but, personally, I like to keep the title short and simple, using just a few words or a short quote /phrase.
Here are some ideas to help with your title choosing:
- Use a few words from your journaling for emphasis.
- Google search a word, idea, place, time, etc, anything that might pertain to your layout and you might get some title ideas you’d not otherwise thought to use.
- Pinterest search can provide ample ideas for your title.
- Browse through digital or printed material such as newspapers, magazines, books, etc. (I often look at magazine ads for inspiration.)
- Peruse lyrics, books, TV shows and movie titles/quotes.
- Dictionary, using phonetic spelling of words, a thesaurus to find synonyms.
Now that you have your title decided upon, the next step is to decide what products and/or fonts to use to create your title. Word art, word strips and extracted parts of journal cards are all great to use in a title. They can be used alone or combined with other products, fonts, alphas, etc. I often use an alpha or font for the main part of a title and then add a small word art or word strip along with it. Here are some layouts that caught my eye in The Lilypad gallery.

The next step is to decide the placement, color, size, etc of your title. With digital layouts, it’s easy to move the title around, maybe change the color of all or part of your title to coordinate with your photo or layout design colors. Try tilting or changing the horizontal/vertical placement. Try using upper and lower case alphas or fonts together. Try selecting part of your title and re-positioning it, as I did in this layout.
Lastly, another consideration might be to use styles with your title. Here are some of the styles available from The Lilypad store:

I hope these ideas help you to create the perfect title for your layout. Have fun!

Thanks again for using my page, for the title I created 3 extra layers to create all the colors in the title. I used the magical pen selector to create the green and “wood” layer then applied styles. The white layer I duplicated my title and did a stroke around it, rasterized it and then applied another style.
