Welcome, October M3!

Well hello there, Pad Scrappers!

Polly Liana here, ready to do a backflip over our newest M3 Collection for October.  For those who are new to the concept, M3 stands for Mixed Media Monthly.  The Lilypad is incredibly fortunate to have on its team some of the most talented mixed media designers in the industry.  We have combined four of our finest: Little Butterfly Wings, Lynne-Marie, Paula Kesselring and our newest designer Rebecca McMeen (and sometimes the fabulous Nancie Rowe Janitz) into a powerhouse designing team for this project each month.  This team works together around a palette and three words to create a huge kit that can be used for mixed media, art journaling projects and scrapbooking.  For October, the three words are QUIRKY/FRINGE/IMAGINE.  Our designers really embraced these words because the preview of this kit is all kinds of funky.  Check it out:

Awesome, right?  Well, it gets better because with each M3 Collection, the designers release “add-on” kits that coordinate perfectly with the palette and theme of the main kit.  It’s like toppings for the sundae.  You can pick and choose the ones that you want to enhance the original kit and they all go together.

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
