This TREND Watch – Cork got me thinking where does cork come from and more. so Google my friend gave me some amazing facts.
Did you know that Portugal produces approximately 50% of all cork? A tree has to be at least 25 years old, and then they strip the outside bark off every nine years. These trees live over 200 years!
Cork used to be a horrible thing in my memory due to a wall of old cork and mirrors in my home growing up. The cork was old, horrible and so dated. My mom and I ran a campaign to convince my dad to take it off! It has been off for years now. The only place I love cork is with digital scrapping. I love it digital! No harvesting, no waiting, just download, unzip and scrap!
The Pollys have done an awesome job with some inspiration pages for the TREND Watch challenge too:
Marnel explodes with a boom boom page and a full sheet of cork combined with the number 4 to bring the cork all together:
PLM(an awesome Guest Polly) takes some cool petals and round bits of cork to surround that adorable photo!
Be still my heart, Angie4b1g scraps one delightful page, using b&w along with the cork is a dynamic effect:
Pure happiness from Jenn McCabe and her use of the cork alpha for a title and little fish all around.
LiLi, who takes the path less traveled and makes you want to give it a whirl, with bits of cork all around and layers of fun and happy! I love the ampersand (&) all big and awesome.
Heck! I even jumped in early and made a page of fun and corks!
I so hope you will jump in and play too! There are so many ways to use cork on your pages. The sale goes for 2 full weeks and their is a way cool TREND Watch challenge in the forum that goes right with the sale! Every other week, a winner is drawn and given a $5 gift certificate. The winner from last TREND WATCH is buzinettescrap! You could be the random winner next time!
