Hi friends. I’m here with a fun throwback Thursday post this week. MOC is going on in the forum right now and each day brings a new challenge. MOC Day 4 asked us to re-scrap an old layout of ours and if you haven’t completed that one yet, then this post may be helpful right now.
Of course, there are many reasons to re-do or revisit an older layout. Maybe your overall scrap style has changed and this would allow you to create the older layouts in your new style. Maybe there’s some new products that fit the theme, mood, or photo more than when you first scrapped it (hello fellow digi-stash hoarders like myself lol). And then, maybe you just weren’t quite happy with the old layout and re-doing it is the only thing that will ease your feeling you get when you look at it. (again, I’m raising my hand, lol)
I went through my gallery here and found a super old layout that at the time I found pleasing but now it just looks drab and definitely doesn’t fit my current scrap style. This is the layout I’m talking about:
It’s not a bad layout and I love that childhood photo of myself feeding the ducks at the park with my dad. I wasn’t happy however with the color effect of the photo paired with the kit colors. I like the quote, but felt something else could definitely give me more warm childhood feeling vibes. And I don’t really know what I was doing with the zebra heart on top of the brown spotted splotches? paper strip. You can see the full credits in my gallery here.
So how did I tackle this mission of re-scrapping the page? First, I browsed the Shop for a new product that would convey how I felt about this photo. That was pretty easy. Then I set about re-scrapping my page. I focused a few of the things I mentioned above, like the photo color effect, the quote and the overall feeling of the page. I also brought the old layout up-to-date with my current scrap style and I can say now I’m very pleased with the end result. Want to see? Of course you do….
Voila!!! My finished layout. The full credits are listed in the gallery. I cropped the photo tighter to focus on the moment more, and loved the premade journal cards that had great quotes to convey my feelings. The stamped subtitle and the big cursive title word solidified the feelings I had even more. I really loved the big striped paper and of course my signature clusters made an appearance. I really love how it turned out. You can see the full credits in my gallery.
Hopefully this inspired you to tackle MOC Day 4 if you haven’t already or to revisit an older layout just because. See ya next time.
