Polly Picks: Rebecca Hilleary

Today’s Polly Pick is Rebecca Hilleary and honestly, I am thrilled to show her off a little.  I spent a bit of time in her gallery this week and she is ROCKIN’.  Seriously, just check it out for yourself and I promise, it will inspire you.

First of all, she is a master of Pocket Pages and I love how she uses them for her Project Life pages and also as a blueprint to get several photos on a page.  In fact, many of her stunning layouts showcase multiple photos, something that is difficult for a lot of us.  But that’s not all she is great at… take a look at some of her single photo pages.  She makes great use of the BIG photo, filling pages with a single photo.  Besides the picture itself being fabulous, the overall effect of the page is just perfect.  These pages print out very well, also, really showing off that smile or landscape.  Another thing that  I really like about Rebecca’s gallery is that although the focus of her scrapping is quite obviously on the pictures and the stories, she adds remarkable extra touches to each page and makes them works of art as well.  Here composition often includes a masterful use of alphas and stamps for titlework, the grungy paint and doodles she uses to decorate her canvases, and the labels that are always ready to help her tell her story.  These are just a few of the techniques you will find among her pages.

And if you love her style and want to try it out for yourself, Rebecca has chosen some of her favorite products and they are on sale for 20% off in the store right now!  How awesome is that!

Here’s what Rebecca says about her Scrapping Style:

“I tend to work with multiple photos, and most of the time, my pics land flat in the center of the page. Also, it’s important to me to include journaling that supports the story that my pictures are telling. Right now I’m really liking working with white or very neutral backgrounds, but they can’t be too clean… I like to mess it up with splatters and brush work. Also, love bright colors and bold patterns, lots of word strips and flairs, labels, washi tape, stitching, and ephemera of every kind. I think for me, I have the most fun with my title work. I LOVE to mix alphas. And I like my titles BIG. I usually save them for last, so I can balance out the page with title placement.”

So, are you inspired yet?  I am!  I wanna scrap like Rebecca when I grow up, LOL.  Whether you are looking for fresh ideas for your Pocket Pages or want to show off that special photo you can’t believe you managed to even capture, look no further than Rebecca’s gallery to help you do it well.  Neutral backgrounds splattered with fun, paired with a big and bold title and some real storytelling will get you on your way to scrapping like Rebecca.  Here are a few of her layouts up close for you to check out.
