Hi friends!! I hope you are all having a fantastic month!
My family is preparing for another big move this summer. As a military family, we typically move about every two years to a new location. This time we’ll be moving from El Paso to the Washington, DC area. Each move makes me nostalgic and this one is no exception to that.
Over the last fourteen years of being a military family, we have lived in eight different homes. Each one contains so many memories that I hold dear in my heart.
As we are gearing up for our next move, I began thinking about the importance of home and scrapbooking each of the homes I’ve lived in.
I’ve pulled some of those layouts to share with you as inspiration to think about scrapbooking your own home, or homes, as the case may be.
I actually had this layout printed on canvas and I typically have it hanging around moving time. I need to remember that home truly is where the heart is instead of a specific location. This photo was taken in our home in Germany right before we moved back to the states in 2009.
I often wonder what I children will remember about each of our homes and which ones will stand out as being special to each of them. We lived in Virginia from the time my son was two and a half to five years old. It is the first home he’ll have memories of.
We’ve lived in El Paso, Texas twice, which means that we’ve had two very different homes here. This was the first home that we lived in and it holds very special memories for me. It’s probably my favorite out of all the homes we’ve lived in.
This is a photo-less journaling layout that I completed on the theme of home. It’s one of my favorite layouts because sometimes it helps to just write out all of these big feelings I have about home and what it means to me.
We moved into this home thinking that we would only be there for a year, but surprisingly it turned into two years. It’s funny how my perspective on this home changed over time.
And this is our current home…a “historic bungalow” that I was so unsure about living in. We’ve made this little bungalow a home in the two years we’ve been here. And I’m sure we’ll do the same with our next house just as we’ve done with all the others.
Have you ever documented your house? Has it made its way onto a scrapbook layout? If not, I would encourage you to think about scrapbooking about your current home or a home that has special meaning to you.
