Polly Spotlight: Leslie (1girl1boy)
I’m thrilled today to shine the spotlight on another one of our amazingly talented Pollywogs. This week let’s get to know Leslie (1girl1boy) better! If you know her I’m sure you’ll agree that she is one of the most kind-hearted, most warm and genuine and most talented women in the community and on the team here at The Pad. When I look through Leslie’s gallery I am always overcome with a wonderful sense of happy. Her pages glow with the love of her family and her balanced and photo-centric design style makes my creative little heart sing. Every page and story she shares is so inspiring to take in. While she describes her scrapping style as “photo-centric” “journaling centric” “whitespace” and “ever-evolving”, I think it can be summed up in just one: AWESOME. Go peek and I’m sure you’ll see what I mean. I sat down with Leslie and asked her to share more about herself.
Tell us a little about yourself. I’m just your average, ordinary working mom of 2 fabulous kids and wife to 1 amazing man. We live in central Texas and are in the middle of moving…yet again!
Tell us your scrapping story..how did you get involved with digital scrapbooking and what does scrapping mean to you (why do you scrap?)? I was a pseudo-paper scrapper who started digi when our son was born and I wanted to make his birth announcements. From there is became an addiction I didn’t want to kick. Scrapping for me is simply about preserving our family memories. It’s the stories and pictures I want to always remember.
Where do you find inspiration? My kids are probably my biggest inspiration. They push me to be a better person in everything I do.
Tell us about your scrapping environment and process…when do you usually scrap? Do you like to listen to music when you create? Do you nosh on anything while scrapping? Do you multi-task or just focus on the page your creating? I scrap on a messy, messy desk and am an ADHD scrapper most of the time. I start a page, browse the web, back to the page, tend to my kids, work on the page some more, kiss on my husband…you get the idea! I don’t think I’d know what to do with uninterrupted scrap time.
Who was your first TLP designer crush? Jacque Larsen. Her amazing paper pieces sucked me in.
What TLP products are your “must haves”? You know, the kind you fell in love with at first sight or the ones you keep coming back to again and again? Any of Karah’s Outer Limits Doodled Borders, Kaye’s Back To Basics 2 and I know that I’ll be using Emily’s Painted On on almost every page!
Show us your favorite page (from you) and tell us why it’s a favorite. This is like choosing between my children. I’d have to say this one is a definitive fave of mine. I love that it’s a photo of all of us and because I feel every word of my journaling deep in my core.
Your photographs are beautiful. What kind of camera equipment do you use? Wow! Thank you so much for the compliment. Honestly, I just use my trusty Canon XTi and my kit lens.
What other non-scrapping related hobbies do you enjoy? I shop and read and shop and eat and shop and sing. Did I mention I shop? The kicker…I don’t usually buy. I just like to shop.
With Mother’s Day on the horizon here in the United States, many of us have family on the brain…share a lesson you learned from your mom that you carry with you still into your own motherhood. I am incredibly blessed to have wonderful Christian women in my life growing up. Walking by faith is the greatest lesson I learned from my mother and one I hope I can impart to my own children.
Thanks Leslie! And as a little extra tidbit of joyousness let’s take a look at a couple pages Leslie made for today’s new products:
With Memoir of Two Island Girls, the fabulous new collab from Emily Merritt and Valorie Wibbens:

With the way-too-adorable Waterpark collab from Jacque Larsen and Krista Sahlin:

And there are more new releases to be had today! Every one of them fabulous! And every one of them on sale this weekend. So be sure to check them out!
And keep your eyes peeled in the Lilypad forums in the coming week as we inch ever closer to iNSD. There are some AMAZING surprises and more fun and inspiration than you can handle on the horizon. I promise you, you will not want to miss what we and the designers are working on.
Have a beautiful weekend and Happy Scrapping!!
