Our newest installment of Polly Picks features Project Lifer Extraordinaire Heather Greenwood (heathergw). We marvel at the way she is able to utilize a wide variety of elements and papers, yet make her completed spreads visually cohesive. It’s like a great episode of Seinfeld…all the little random details come together in the end to form a perfectly-blended finished product! We are particularly impressed with her hybrid work. It’s one thing to use all the little labels, stickers, tags and confetti to create a digital layout but it is quite another to use them well in all their real-life glory. The results of her meticulous work are evident in her page-protected masterpieces. They often feature beautiful photos of her loving family, well-accented with complementary elements and lots of descriptive word art. Add a sprinkle of humor + a dollop of sherbet-colored goodness and you’ve got Heather Greenwood style! Shop Heather’s style at 20% off through September 23rd.
Here’s Heather in her own words: “Hi, I’m Heather Greenwood, aka heathergw… I’m happily married to my BFF and am a homeschooling hippie mama to three little ones. I’ve been scrapping since the early ’90s and was introduced to digi and hybrid in 2009. This is my second year doing pocket style pages, my fave method of recording memories.”
If you’re interested in starting Project Life or other weekly/monthly documenting projects, we think that looking closely at Heather’s work is the right place to start. She uses just the right blend of accents and purposeful elements to create pages that are both informative and visually pleasing. Little details in her own handwriting lend a personal touch. Heather makes great use of photo templates to get the most visual storytelling in each pocket. She chooses groups of photos that stand on their own and tell a story with both facial expressions and movement. Her eclectic choices of sizes, colors and textures all work together perfectly, demonstrating her artistic eye. Her family is indeed lucky that Heather has captured such wonderful memories in her lovely layouts. This is definitely time well spent!
