Pocket Scrapping Art Journaling Showcase – April 2015

Hi, everyone. Sarah here, and I’m so happy to share with you all some of the fun pages that have been created for the Pocket Scrapping Art Journaling challenges this month.

PS AJ Challenge April 2015 Showcase

The April 1st challenge is to create something with flowers.  redplaid3 did such an awesome job with this frog themed page. I just love the springy feel and the large size pocket page.

The April 8th challenge is to write a letter to yourself. I adore this letter about setting and meeting goals by cfile. I love the use of the coffee themed kit to talk about this subject!

For the April 15th challenge I asked people to use wordstrips on their pages. I love how dvhoward used her pockets on a larger layout.

The April 22nd challenge is to create a page using at least one cluster. This cluster of tickets and other ephemera on Cath_’s layout is just the perfect touch.

This month we have a bonus week since the 1st was on a Wednesday. This week’s challenge (April 29th) is to create a page using digital stamps or doodles. Since the challenge was just posted today and there haven’t been any entries yet I thought I’d share my page that I created for the challenge. I had so much fun with this one!

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
