Would you consider this job posting?
“Do you have what it takes to handle the World’s Toughest Job? It requires more than 135 hours per week, constant mobility, keen coordination and adept communication. There are no breaks, no holidays off, and there is no pay.”
Mullen, an advertising agency in Boston, posted this fake ‘Director of Operations’ job listing and while the ad got 2.7 million impressions from paid ad placement, only 24 people responded. Those that responded then sat down to interview for the job and all were shocked at what was required of them: no sitting, no vacations, no guaranteed sleep and zero money. Sounds glamorous doesn’t it?
“Is that even legal?” one applicant asked. “Nobody is going to do that for free!” another responded and boy are they right!
But billions of women do this job every day and when the applicants found out just who holds the title of “World’s Toughest Job,” some were brought to tears and it instantly put it all into perspective.
Eventually, the big reveal – the true job title – Mom.

Mothers give up so much from their waistlines, sleep, a clean car, their own social calendar, not to mention the most precious commodity of all…sleep!
But some of you may find this particular holiday difficult. Maybe because of infertility or you are among those that don’t have a healthy relationship with their mother.
For myself, my Mother passed away last year right before Mother’s Day. I miss her. She was a wonderful Mom and my Father misses her daily. That’s what being married 60 years will do :) So this holiday stings a little.
I am, however, grateful that I am a Mother to 6 great kids who have come into my life either by birth or marriage —-and now, I’ve been blessed with 2 grands (last one not in this photo). :)
I know this picture looks perfect, but I assure you, we are a crazy blended family and I have as many babies in Heaven as I do here on Earth.
Things aren’t always how they seem – right?
Life isn’t always neat and tidy but somehow, some way we have all mothered someone along the way. Maybe you celebrate another woman who has mentored you to where you are today. Regardless, I hope you take a moment to thank her. Thank her for those sacrifices that no one else saw.
Happy Mother’s Day!
