Hey all, Polly Jewelle here! I am thrilled to bring you another TLP member spotlight! I had the opportunity to chat with purlz76 this week. She is such a sweetheart and so fun to talk to! Sit back and take some time to get to know purlz76 a little better!
Jewelle: What is your IRL name and your user name?
Purlz76: My name is Agnes. I love purple so my user name is purlz76. The “76” is my birth year.
J: Could you provide a picture of yourself so we can see who you are?
J: Where do you call home?
P: Singapore. Not China. Not Hong Kong. Not Taiwan.
J: Digital or Hybrid? Both?
P: Digital.
J: How long have you been scrapping?
P: 8 years. I started with digital back in 2005. Then I converted to paper in mid-2006 because most of my scrapbook friends are paper-scrappers. When life had gotten ahead of me, I stopped. But I would still get my hands dirty once in a while in both digital & paper until I chanced upon TLP in May 2012. Then the rest is history.
J: What is the starting point for your pages – photos, the story, products?
P: All three are interlinked for me. And may I also add quotes and text. Sometimes a quote/text can lead me to the photo. Sometimes I already have a photo in mind, then half-way through scrapping I will come up with the “bestest” title. Other times the products can lead me to either the title/quotes or photo. Then the rest will just come naturally.
J: How would you describe your style?
P: My style is clustered & busy. I think. Well, that’s the “trend” I see in my pages! I can also scrap clean and simple. Not too clean and simple, because for some reason I cannot tolerate a clean background.
J: Any must-have items or techniques on all of your pages?
P: There are three items I always want to use on my pages: ribbons, metal & flowers. I don’t call them my must-haves, per se. Just that I was super crazy over them when I was paper-scrapping. Yet I was not comfortable using them and didn’t know how to use them. So now I will use them just because I want to.
J: Share a favorite tip or trick
P: Put in the shadow first. It is not my favourite, per se. But I find it very useful because it allows me to see it “more clearly” how everything will look on my page.
J: Do you listen to music while you scrap? What kind?
P: Yes, but I have no specific preference. These are on my playlist – Les Misérables, A Monster In Paris, Sister Act, Dirty Dancing, Chipmunks , Chipettes, Michael Bolton and a few slow rock/heavy metal. Oh. I just realized that I also have Happy Feet 1 & 2 on my play list! My recently played is Les Misérables.
J: What’s your favorite snack (if any) while you scrap?
P: Nope, I don’t snack while scrapping. Too distracting.
J: What time of day do you feel most creative?
P: No specific time. As long as the inspiration hits me, I’m good to go.
J: Share with us the top 3 layouts that you’ve created:
P: I don’t have a top-3 layouts. So I’ll choose my current 3 favorites.
