Another installment of our “Meet the … ” series. This episode we bring you Julie, better known as mrs2a50, a pad polly.
Sit us down at your desk, what’s it look like? What kind of equipment do you use?
No desk – I sit in a big, overstuffed chair and ottoman in front of the TV. Comfort baby! I have a 17” HP laptop, but when it goes kablooey, I’m thinking of downsizing, just because it’s getting harder to sit and scrap with a load of bricks on my lap. I was a die-hard MS Digital Image Pro user until January 1, when my new year’s resolution was to learn Photoshop. I’ve had to break out DIP a few times when I was in a hurry and didn’t want to take the time to learn how in PS, but I’m happy to say I’m relatively fully functional in PS now, and no longer wanting to throw my computer out the window!
What inspires you?
For scrapping? I’m often inspired by songs – I use a lot of song titles or lines from songs, as my page titles. I’m also inspired by color – I’m a sucker for anything orange, or neutral.
How long is it typically take you to create a page?
Roughly an hour. Sometimes longer, but I’d say that’s about average.
Which is your favorite kit?
SO many. So many. But I have a new favorite from just a few weeks ago – Krista Sahlin’s Rejuvenate
Or Jenna Desai’s Organic (which she has sadly retired).
How did you get started scrapping?
I initially was a paper scrapper – I think my first project was an album for a friend.
I first bought Digital Image Pro for photo retouching/editing, and it just evolved from there.
Do you choose photo, kit, or story first, then what comes second, and third?
Kit first, then photo, then story (if I do a story. Journaling is incredibly hard for me most of the time)
You have just won a fabulous wardrobe from any designer you choose, who would that be?
I honestly don’t have a favorite designer. I don’t know how to answer this. However, if I got a shopping spree to any store, it would be Crate & Barrel.
If you could travel back in time, what would you tell yourself 10 years ago?
“This too shall pass.” I’ve learned that what seems important at the time becomes inconsequential as time goes on.
So, your Queen for the Day. What is your first decree?
I decree that wine be calorie-free, non-headache causing, and actually make you skinnier.
Name something you couldn’t live without.
I assume something inanimate. Definitely my camera. No, my Kindle. No, my camera. Um, both!
Is there something you need to get off your chest?
a) I wouldn’t even know where to begin, and
b) I’d probably get myself in a heap o’trouble. So, pass!
What is your super power?
I want to be a fly on the wall in so many conversations. So I guess invisibility.
Tea for two at Harrods in London. Who’s your guest?
My grandma. ‘Cause I miss her, and I know she’d love it!
In the movie version of your life, who will play you?
Reese Witherspoon. Duh.
Here are just a few of my favorite pages by Julie (images linked for credits):
