Make It Monday Floating Hexagon Card

Happy Make It Monday in May y’all!  Polly Robin here to show you how I made a floating hexagon fold card.  That’s a mouthful, but it’s a fun card to make so let me show you how I made it.

First, I looked through the store and found this awesome kit, Game On by Kristin Aagard.  My niece is a huge fan of gaming so I knew right away this kit was perfect for my card.

I printed off my papers and elements and then did some cutting and scoring.  Here are the pieces that I cut out / scored with the measurements under then in case you want to make this card too.  What you can’t see is my acetate which was cut 4 inches long by 1.75 inches wide.  From some strange reason, clear acetate doesn’t show up in my pictures 🙂

Next came the assembling part.  I glued all the patterned pieces of papers as you can see here except for the two 5 1/8” x ½” pieces.

Now it’s time to attach the top and bottom 5 ¾ x 1 ¼ inch pieces to the 5 ½ x 4 1/8 inch piece as shown.  Notice how I wrapped that last segment around to the back.  Because the piece has been scored, it will “pop” away from the center piece and form a hexagon shape.

To cover up those unsightly tabs, I glued those last two pieces on as shown.

Next, I glued the acetate to the center part of the hexagon shape and then added my elements too.  They look like they are floating!

The great thing about this card is it folds flat and fits into a regular 5×7 envelope for easy mailing.

I know my niece will love this card and I hope you do as well.  Thanks for checking out my process!
