    JANUARY 29: Just the Highlights

Hey all! Can you believe we're just a few days from completing another amazing MOC!? I hope you've had as much fun as I have. I'm truly amazed by all your gorgeous layouts in the gallery.

Today we have a technique challenge with a bit of journaling. Sometimes you go back through your pages & just need a jolt to revive your memories. Maybe you want to help someone else get the gist of your page without going through all the journaling. Highlights are useful, they pull you in & help shape your story. That's what we're working on today! Your challenge is to create a page where you "highlight" or focus on just a few words within your journaling. Your page must have at least one photo, and you must write at least 150 words about that photo. You'll then highlight 5-10 words that sum up your journaling. Space them out. Your goal is to reach into your own journaling to grab the words that best describe what your journaling/page is about. You may emphasize the words however you'd like, but they must truly stand out. We're not just italicizing here. Try making them larger than the other words, or using a shape or element to frame those words. You can use word strips or word art. You can actually highlight them. How you do it is up to you, but you must make the focus words stand out. Try making them larger than the other words or using a shape or element to frame those words. The rest is up to you.

The rules for this challenge are:
    1. You must have at least one photo.
    2. You must write at least 150 words of journaling.
    3. You must take between 5 and 10 words of that journaling and highlight them or make them stand out from the rest of your journaling.

Please remember the general MOC guidelines:
Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
    1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
    2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
    3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). If you use product from other stores, your pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).

    This space reserved for clarifications.

    Q:Can I do a song lyric/poem for my journaling?
A:You can use song lyrics/poems if they are specifically about your photo(s). Part of the requirement is that the journaling is about your photo(s). So, it wouldn't be appropriate just to write out all the lyrics to a song or a whole poem & not explain the association with the photo(s). Also, make sure you are highlighting individual words, rather than lines or whole sentences.

Q: Can I highlight more than 10 words?
A: No, I'm sorry. The range of highlighted words, for this challenge, is 5-10.

Q: Can we also include word art somewhere on our page that is not part of the highlighted text?
A: Yes, it just can't overpower the highlighted journaling if it's not part of that journaling.

Similar to the question above. You can use a poem in your journaling. But, your journaling should be at least 150 words, specifically about your photo(s).

Can we highlight a few more? I think I have 18 because some of them are names. Nevermind, I just un-highlighted all the names (did not want to play favorites and start a family feud)! LOL!

Thank you for the awesome challenge. I always love the extra pop highlighting a few words can give but I seldom do this on my layouts. Going to try and remember to do it more going forward! I did a double pager with the requirements being filled on the left page:
