January 15: Painted Edges

I used 3 different Photoshop Brushes around the Edges

I spent an inordinate amount of time on this one playing with different brushes and looks. Thank goodness for the duplicate layer action and the eraser! I finally settled on this.

Really struggling to have enough pictures to scrap for MOC7, so these ones date back all the way to 1988!

I've never really used brushes, so this was a good learning opportunity for me. I didn't follow the instructions exactly. I'm not sure where I got it, but I have a brush called "Kyle Drag Mixed Grays", which I set at 174px, with an angle of 0, roundness at 100% and spacing at 18%. I used white as my foreground colour and set the opacity to 90%, because my goal was to create painted edges on the solid papers behind my photos that would mimic the painted edging that was already on my background paper. I think it turned out pretty well. Maybe I'll start playing around with these a bit more!

I went a totally different direction than originally anticipated, but here are my painted edges. I used to really like painting the edges of my photos as a paper scrapper, so I did that here too in addition to the background paper edges.

Fun challenge. I used to do this when paper scrapping too and don't think I've ever done digitally. I painted the edges of the daisy paper with a scatter brush. I like the results. I had to try several before I found a look I liked. Thank you!

Awesome challenge, thanks Rae! I hope mine is going to be ok. I used some orange roses, applied a b&w adjustment layer and then painted the edges of the petals pink and purple. (The rest of the roses remained black).

Here's mine! I added a brushed edge and then added a glitter style to the brushed edges. :) Perfect for Christmas!

Thanks for the video tutorial on how to do this in PSE! If I hade ever known that it would be so easy to do this I would have started long ago! <3
I've been painting almost all the paper edges in my layout:

I can't believe I haven't done this before. Thanks for the prompting! I inked the edges of my photo - it's kind of small so I hope the edges are prominent enough.
